Age rules are company-specific
Rental companies set their own age rules and young-driver fees; there isn’t one statewide fee that applies to every company. A brand’s airport and city branches usually follow the same age policy, but payment and deposit rules can vary by location.
Enterprise’s Fort Walton Beach location page says renters and additional drivers must be at least 21 and links to the company’s policy for underage fees and vehicle restrictions. Check the current policy for the location you plan to use, since old advice online can be out of date.
Common age rules to look for
- Minimum age often 21 for standard cars; some specialty or large vans require 25+.
- Drivers 21–24 frequently pay a daily underage fee.
- Luxury, exotic, and large passenger vans are commonly restricted.
- Additional drivers under 25 may each incur fees and must appear in person with a license.
These are common patterns, not a promise that every company follows them. Confirm the rules for your rental before booking.
Check age rules for local and peer-to-peer options
Local and peer-to-peer options may have different rules. AutoVille Rent’s website says the primary driver must be at least 25. Turo’s age requirements and any young-driver fees depend on its rules and the specific car listing. Check the details for your dates before comparing prices.
How under-25 fees change the real price
A low daily rate may end up costing more once the young-driver fee is added for each day. When comparing quotes, include that fee for every driver under 25, then compare the full totals for airport and city pickup. See our price guide.
Documents to bring
- Valid physical driver’s license (many brands reject digital-only licenses)
- Payment card in the renter’s name meeting the location’s credit/debit rules
- For international licenses: follow the brand’s IDP / translation requirements
Practical tips for VPS arrivals
If you arrive late, call the airport location to confirm it will rent to someone your age. Even though FlyVPS says the counters stay open until after the last flight, the company’s age and payment rules still apply. If you’re close to the minimum age, check another company’s policy as a backup.
